J.J. Abrams To Collaborate With Steven Spielberg On New Movie
'Star Trek' director reportedly writing and directing homage to Spielberg's early flicks.

If "Jaws" and "Cloverfield" had a love-child, what would it look like? It's a question that will have an answer soon enough, as the word is that J.J. Abrams will find time somewhere between his duties as a television and film producer to team up with legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg on a project to shoot this fall.
New York Magazine's Vulture blog reports via an unnamed source that Abrams is wrapping up a script described as "a tip of the hat to [Spielberg's] movies of the '70s and early '80s." He will direct it himself for Paramount in the early fall. Spielberg's role is unknown at this point, but it is believed that the DreamWorks co-founder will serve in an executive producer or advisory capacity.
For those who are familiar with Abrams' M.O., it should come as no surprise that plot details, as well as the title, are being kept quiet for the time being. Vulture's source said that the premise fits in with motifs that have long been established in Spielberg's work, particularly his early efforts: personal relationships between the main characters are tested when they are faced with some kind of fantastic — "possibly other-worldly" — event.
As the source explained, "J.J. wants to make sure Steven is properly paid homage to. This is really an interpretation of some of Spielberg's earlier films, but done in a personal way." The plans call for a low budget; the source describes the project as "kind of an anti-'Avatar.'"
An early fall production means that the mysterious collaboration likely wouldn't interfere with any plans Abrams may have to direct the "Star Trek" sequel. This is all assuming that Vulture's source is accurate, of course. As the blog points out, spokespersons from both Paramount and DreamWorks "denied any knowledge of the new Abrams project."

Amanda Seyfried Says 'Letters To Juliet' Is 'Super Romantic'
Actress says she had 'more chemistry' with co-star Christopher Egan than any other actors during audition.
By Jocelyn Vena

In "Letters to Juliet," opening May 14, Amanda Seyfried's Sophie is torn between two guys: the multifaceted Brit hottie Charlie (Aussie newcomer Christopher Egan) and her fiancé, the equally hot but clueless chef Victor (Gael Garcia Bernal). Call it Sophie's choice — she eventually does choose between the two.
Although Seyfried's co-stars, Egan and Bernal, promise plenty of eye candy in "Juliet," the beautiful Italian countryside in the city of Verona (home of Shakespeare's Juliet), where the movie is partly set, is also eye-catching. As part of our Summer Movie Preview, MTV News spoke to Seyfried, who admitted she's still smitten with the flick's gorgeous backdrop.
MTV: For a movie that's basing itself on "Romeo and Juliet," it's not too heavy-handed about playing up that aspect.
Amanda Seyfried: Yeah, if "Romeo & Juliet" didn't exist, the movie wouldn't exist, but otherwise it's its own story. Absolutely.
MTV: It feels like it's going to be the romantic comedy for the summer.
Seyfried: That'd be really nice. I don't know, I don't find it as funny. I thought the script was super romantic, and I loved that. But there are some funny elements when I saw the first cut. Maybe, that'd be nice.
MTV: You were shooting in a beautiful little world. What was it like being in Italy and filming on location?
Seyfried: It was amazing. Italy is the perfect place, really, in some ways the heart of Europe. Really old and really warm, and there's so much good wine and food and people and culture and art. It's the perfect place, and I can't believe I was able to live there for two months.
MTV: If you're going to fall in love anywhere, it kind of seems like the perfect place to fall in love with somebody.
Seyfried: Yeah, that's true. It is, like, beautiful sunsets and hillsides and good wine and food. It's sort of ideal.
MTV: Your character, she's sort of torn between these two guys. One guy is her fiancé, who doesn't seem to be a bad guy.
Seyfried: No, he's just completely engrossed in his career.
MTV: And then there's Charlie, who comes along.
Seyfried: He turned out to be the guy in the end, but it takes a little bit of that back-and-forth between Charlie and Sophie for them to see there's something between them. He taught her she's missing a lot in her relationship.
MTV: You and Christopher [Egan] have a nice little chemistry in the film. Were you familiar with him before?
Seyfried: I had seen something on him because he was in that show "Kings," but I didn't really know much about him. We had more chemistry than anybody else that I read with, so that was cool. He was the best for the job. I think he's so funny. It's hard not to be so charmed by him.
MTV: Is he very much like his [rather uptight] character in the movie?
Seyfried: No, he's not stiff at all. He's very wide-open and so loose and charismatic. He's so funny. He kept us laughing the whole time!
Make way for Tony Stark! Look out for Carrie Bradshaw! Here come Edward and Bella! The 2010 summer movie season has begun, and with it the return of familiar faces and the emergence of new ones. All week long during Summer Movie Preview Week, MTV News will be bringing you exclusive interviews, clips and photos for the most anticipated films of the coming months. Get ready to gorge on inside looks at "Eclipse," "Iron Man 2," "Predators," "The Other Guys," "Beastly," "Robin Hood" and more.
Check out everything we've got on "Letters to Juliet."

'Other Guys' Director Talks Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg And Derek Jeter
Adam McKay describes his stars' unexpected chemistry in the August buddy-cop comedy.
By Eric Ditzian

Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell in "The Other Guys"
Photo: Columbia Pictures
Will Ferrell and Adam McKay have dressed up the local news in polyester, taken the NASCAR circuit for a ride through Wacky Town and followed two strangers picked to live in a house (after their parents get married) and found out what happens when infantile adults stop being polite and start beating the crap out of each other.
Now after "Anchorman," "Talladega Nights" and "Step Brothers" comes the buddy copy flick "The Other Guys." Co-written and directed by McKay, the movie stars Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg as NYPD desk jockeys thrust onto the streets to fight crime. Destruction and laughs follow in their explosion-filled wake. As part of MTV News' Summer Movie Preview Week, McKay gave us a call to chat about Ferrell and Wahlberg's onscreen chemistry, some of their wild action scenes and Derek Jeter's awesome cameo.
MTV: The movie comes out on August 6. Where you at right now in the process?
Adam McKay: We just did our first legit, recruited screening last week. But we do lots of informal, in-house ones. We got our first full, beginning-to-end, starting-to-look-like-the-movie cut going last week. Now we're trimming. It gets shorter and shorter as you go along. We're, like, a month and a half from locking picture. We're getting our special effects finalized. Our composer is starting to work on pieces. We're right on schedule.
MTV: How much is the movie changing at this point? You guys are known for shooting a ton of improv as you go along, so are you trying out new stuff as much as you're trimming in the edit?
McKay: That's exactly what we're doing. Overall, you have your story arc. There are always certain parts that can play a little long or if you put in a digression in the late second act, sometimes there's not room for it. Inside the movie, we're going through all of our improv, looking for alt lines, looking for different takes. Overall, you're cutting and getting the shape right and inside the movie you're trying different things.
MTV: With all that improv, have you given any thought to putting out an extended version of "Other Guys" or something similar to what you did with "Anchorman"?
McKay: We did it with "Anchorman," and it worked out well because we had an entire plotline line that got cut. Our villain plot didn't quite work the way we wanted it to, so we had to reshoot. When we were done, there was enough improv mixed with the scenes to literally craft a whole separate movie. With "Talladega Nights" and "Step Brothers" and most likely this movie, we haven't cut any storylines. You could do a director's cut. The first cut of this movie we had was four and a half hours long. It's not fun to watch. We tried to even do a two-hour cut, and it worked, but you could feel it drag in certain areas. One-forty is usually a good time for us.
MTV: Will has had some great onscreen pairings with guys like John C. Reilly and Danny McBride and others. What's special about Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell together?
McKay: John C. Reilly is as good a partner as you could ever have. The two of them are so funny together. But the second I saw Will and Mark together, it was just a completely different energy. In a weird way, almost the last two guys in the world you'd expect to see together. That's what made it so fascinating. Mark has the confidence of someone who could kick anyone's ass in the room. And Will has the confidence of someone who doesn't want to kick anyone's ass in the room. The two of them together are instantly interesting. The big secret we knew is that Mark's really, really funny. So it wasn't as risky as it might have seemed from the outside, because people associate him with dramatic roles or action stuff. I loved him in "I Heart Huckabees." I thought he was hilarious in "The Departed," and I thought he was really funny in "Boogie Nights."
MTV: Did you find he was willing to take risks and sacrifice himself for the good of getting a laugh?
McKay: Absolutely. He gets the joke. He knows what he's messing around with. I think his theory is that anything that can be parodied about you should be shaved away anyway. I don't think he minds going after the fluffy parts of his own image. We had him do some crazy sh-- in this. He danced ballet. We got him a ballet coach and he learned moves. There wasn't one moment where he was like, "Come on guys, I can't do this." He would do anything.
MTV: This one's a lot more action-oriented then your past films. Is there one action scene you're particularly proud of or that was tough to pull off?
McKay: You know, a lot of the trimming we're doing is around the action. We shot some cool stuff with this shootout in a conference room that's sort of super-slow-mo. It's borderline kick-ass. We did this crazy scene on Chelsea Piers at the driving range involving a helicopter and insane explosions. But the best thing we do is the comedy and the specificity of the writing and the absurdity. As good as the action is, Zack Snyder or James Cameron still do action that's way better.
MTV: You'll just do your three-hour alien epic as your next movie...
McKay: Believe me, I'm game! The coolest thing we shot was actually not an action scene but a night of hard drinking with Will's and Mark's characters. It's a 100 percent stylized visual thing with no dialogue and using some motion-capture stuff you're talking about and this still-frame technology. It gets a lot of laughs.
MTV: How did you convince Derek Jeter to sign up for his cameo?
McKay: Of all the cast we got for this movie — and we got some pretty tremendous people — Derek Jeter was the most essential get for the whole movie. We wrote it into the script that he was a major part of the story. He's a fan of Will and the movies we've done in the past. He's a fan of Mark. The crazy thing is [the Yankees] won the World Series, and we're shooting a scene about 10 days afterward. I'm like, "How does this guy come off that — there must be crazy parties, he must be exhausted — and then show up and have his lines memorized?" Sure enough, he was there and he was game. Professional athletes tend to fall into one of two categories. They're either super-conceited and standoffish, or they can be sweet and nice. He's definitely a sweet guy, very unpretentious. His girlfriend [Minka Kelly] is beautiful and just goofy and nice. He's a fan. He's hosted "SNL." He's got that sincerity that just works if he's delivering a line straight. He's an old-fashioned baseball star.
MTV: Paris Hilton also shows up at one point ...
McKay: It's an ongoing joke in the movie that Mark keeps getting in trouble — arresting the wrong people or trying to save people but doing the wrong thing — and we have this final climatic scene where he needed to save someone. There were a bunch of ways to go with the joke but ultimately I thought, "If he saved Paris Hilton and didn't know who she was!" The trick was she had to make fun of herself because the joke is a slam on her. Fortunately, we'd worked with her before on Funny or Die. I said to her, "You always look good taking a jab at yourself." She was cool enough to get it.
MTV: Any other cameos we're gonna see? Any folks in the McKay-Ferrell family who might show up?
McKay: There are a lot of people in this movie. People I even forgot are in the movie. There are people that even show up for, like, four seconds in the background. We wanted to have this Manhattan, exclusive feeling to it. There's sort of a Bernie Madoff-type villain. We wanted wherever he was to have celebrities. So in random scenes, you'll just see notable people in the background.
Check out everything we've got on "The Other Guys."

Lindsay Lohan Fired From Movie 'The Other Side'
Sources say she got the boot because she's not 'bankable.'

Lindsay Lohan last appeared on the big screen in her 2007 flick "I Know Who Killed Me," and while she's been trying her best to stage a comeback, Lohan's career has hit another stumbling block. TMZ is reporting that Lohan has been asked to leave the film "The Other Side." Sources tell the Web site that Lohan was fired because she is not "bankable."
"Our team simply chose to move on from Lindsay and we'll soon be announcing a replacement," David Michaels, the writer/director of the film, told TMZ.
Sources close to the production say that the financial backers of the flick had reservations about Lohan's casting. However, USmagazine.com reports that financing difficulties for the film weren't connected to Lohan and that it had "nothing to do with Lindsay. It was because it was an unknown director. All the major stars in this film dropped out."
The film once reportedly had the late Brittany Murphy attached to it, and currently lists Woody Harrelson, Giovanni Ribisi, Dave Matthews and Alanis Morissette in its cast. Lohan would have reportedly played a grad student working on a deserted island.
Lohan will next appear in the Robert Rodriguez-directed flick "Machete." She was recently in India shooting a documentary about human trafficking for the BBC, and last summer she starred in the ABC Family flick "Labor Pains." Lohan's rep hadn't responded to MTV News' request for comment on the firing by press time.
In the past, Lohan has spoken publicly about her problems in Hollywood, noting that it's been hard for people to give her a second chance. "There's not much I can do about the fact that I've become a kind of tabloid obsession," she said.
"I can't change that. And yes, the Web sites, the gossip pages, and all of that stuff have hurt my career — they're like the Burn Books of Hollywood."

'Iron Man 2' Set Visit Reveals New Suit And 'Energy Crisis' Plot
'This time around, everybody is a lot wider and deeper,' Robert Downey Jr. tells MTV News of the characters.
By Larry Carroll

MANHATTAN BEACH, California — It's hard to believe that it's only been three years since MTV News visited the set of the original "Iron Man" movie and declared "Iron Man is getting his own movie. And what a movie it's shaping up to be!"
A short while later, the world finally saw the film and seemed to agree, as Robert Downey Jr.'s superhero debut went on to become one the biggest hits in recent memory. So when we went back to the set of "Iron Man 2," even though Tony Stark's digs had been moved from Playa Vista, California, to Marvel's dazzling new soundstages in Manhattan Beach, there was definitely a sense of déjà vu.
"I think that was the big buy last time around," Robert Downey Jr. said of the scene at the end of the last film that had billionaire industrialist Tony Stark bucking hero tradition by announcing to the world's media that yeah, he is Iron Man. "We weren't sure if we were going to do that or not."
"It was Kevin [Feige]'s thing," remembered series director Jon Favreau, referring to the Marvel honcho as he sat alongside Downey outside a re-created set depicting Stark's basement headquarters. "It was a funny ha-ha as an out [at the time], and now the exciting action of the whole [sequel] is him dealing with the repercussions of revealing that. What does that really mean to a real person in a real world? Then we heighten it for our superhero reality."
We'll get an answer to those questions May 7, when "Iron Man 2" finally hits theaters. The action picks up six months later, as Tony grapples with a new life that has no secrets, a post-warmongering attitude, and new characters including the deadly Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke), sexy but mysterious Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) and trigger-happy arms dealer Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell).
"Ivan Vanko is our dark character, and we also have Justin Hammer, so we have a bit of a mélange of characters that come together that are different combinations of elements from the books," Favreau explained, promising fans that even if they've read every Iron Man comic ever made, they may still be in for a surprise. "We like to spin it against expectations sometimes, against what the books say. We definitely take into consideration what the comics had and then know that our core audience is going to be aware of what was written — and we'll either play into that or against it."
"As far as Rhodey [now played by Don Cheadle] and even Pepper [Gwyneth Paltrow], this time around, everybody is a lot wider and deeper," Downey said of the sequel's intention to further flesh out the franchise's beloved characters. "Mickey, we're about to come into a big sequence that we have together — our initial meeting, which doesn't end too favorably."
Ultimately, Favreau said, his "Iron Man" films are trying to carve out a unique corner of the superhero market that falls somewhere between the too-silly shortcomings of something like the "Fantastic Four" films and the darker-than-ever mentality of the Batman films. "We definitely like the absurdity of it all," the actor/filmmaker explained. "If we go for the heaviness of it over the absurdity, well, that market got cornered by [Batman filmmaker Chris] Nolan and his crew. And you're just not going to plumb deeper [into darkness] than that."
"There's this whole energy-crisis thing, and he's having his own energy crisis of sorts," Downey explained of the sequel's basic plot. "Stark's [suit] is always a spectacular energetic source, but [in the first film], it's not a Duracell; it's more of a Rayovac. So there's this crisis of energy [as he's trying to upgrade his technology], and there's this legacy of his dad and these expos occurring every decade or so. [His father's energy innovations] are kind of the grail of the movie, isn't it?"
"Yeah, technical innovation that takes everything that he's involved with to the next level," Favreau agreed. "Because it's still a flawed technology that he's working on, and it's still a life-support system of sorts."
As for the new Iron Man suit that all this yields, Favreau said much has been improved, both in real life and on the silver screen. "From my perspective, we did everything we could to make it lighter, easier, more flexible," he explained. "And we shot more with [the Iron Man suit], but he's the guy that has to strap into the thing."
"It's fine," Downey said of his new suit, before teasing his director with the promise of a scene where he'll throw down with Favreau's cameo-ing limo driver. "You're going to like it when you see me and Happy Hogan slugging it out; that's all I've got to say."

New 'Eclipse' Trailer Premieres On 'Oprah' <i>And</i> Online
Second trailer gives closer look at the newborn vampire army and the werewolves ready for battle.

Many in the "Twilight" fan community thought they'd have to wait until this afternoon to see the brand-new "Eclipse" trailer on "The Oprah Winfrey Show." But Oprah posted it on her Web site as soon as her show aired in Chicago (at 9 a.m. CT). And now we can all determine whether this look at "Eclipse" gives us a clearer sense of the film than the first one.
Most important, this new trailer highlights the the violence of "Eclipse," and a lot of it. While the first teaser focused on the love triangle between Bella (Kristen Stewart), Edward (Robert Pattinson) and Jacob (Taylor Lautner), this one is all about the threat bad-girl vampire Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) is posing with her newborn vampire army.
The trailer kicks off with Jacob confronting Bella and Edward at their school. "Jacob, what are you doing?" Bella asks him. "I'm here to warn you," he replies, adding as he looks at Edward, "She has a right to know." The tension between the three of them is pronounced, setting up that dynamic without having to dedicate an entire trailer to it.
While Edward narrates the "situation in Seattle" for Bella, the trailer shows Riley being attacked by Victoria on the dark streets of the city. Continued shots of newborn vampires trashing cars and causing havoc are spliced with the Cullens planning their response. "Sounds pretty alarming," Carlisle (Peter Facinelli) says.
Finally there are some clear shots of the new vampires climbing over what looks like an unused lumber yard and walking up to a body of water. Then there's a close-up shot of Riley (Xavier Samuel), their leader. "They're coming here," Alice (Ashley Greene) foresees.
"This means an ugly fight, with lives lost," Carlisle tells an unseen person, and then Jacob replies, "We're in." The next scene shows the werewolf pack walking out of the woods, for the first time showing the alliance between the vampires and werewolves. "As long as we get to kill some vampires," Jacob adds while looking at Edward.
This trailer also shows the Volturi as a presiding force over the battle between the newborns and Cullen/Quileute team. It's a bit surprising that the vampire elite have been featured so much in both trailers, considering they have a fairly small role in the actual novel. Fortunately, after their brief moment in the trailer, the much-hyped epic "Eclipse" battle is shown, and plenty of violence ensues.
In the midst of the final battle scene, a scene with Edward pressing an engagement ring into Bella's hand is cut in, showing that the editors of this trailer didn't forget the romance that accompanies the action-packed plot.
In the last 20 seconds of the trailer, Victoria runs away from Edward in the woods. Then we see the wolf pack leap into the fight, in a shot reminiscent of Jacob's transformation at the end of the "New Moon" trailer.
Unlike the first "Eclipse" teaser, this newest trailer will give viewers an adequate idea of what they have to expect from the third installment of "The Twilight Saga." Judging by the great action scenes shown in this newest video, "Eclipse" might convert some new fans to the "Saga" after all.

'Shrek Forever After' Stars Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz Kick Off Tribeca
On the film festival's opening night, Myers shares his dream of joining the NHL.

NEW YORK — The Tribeca Film Festival kicked off on Wednesday evening with the premiere of the fourth installment of the billion-dollar-grossing "Shrek" franchise. Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas and more were at the Ziegfeld Theatre (ironically far from the actual Tribeca neighborhood), which was transformed into a green-carpeted wonderland of Hollywood talent, screaming paparazzi and microphone-waving reporters.
"Shrek Forever After," the final film in this series about a lovable green ogre constitutes a story reboot of sorts. Shrek makes a magical wish that thrusts him into an "It's a Wonderful Life"-style scenario where his friends and family no longer know him — even though all he wanted was just one day away from his normal life to cut loose and indulge his baser instincts. So, in their wildest dreams, what would Myers and his castmates do if they could go wild and crazy for one day?
"I would be in the NHL," said the Canadian-born Myers. "That would be my thing. And I would love to be in a hockey fight."
Not that he thinks he'd win. "I'm 5-foot-nothing," he said. "I weigh nothing. It's just one of those things you watch your entire life as a hockey fan and you go, 'I wonder what that would be like?' Every hockey player I meet, I go, 'What's it like to be in a fight?' They say it's exhausting.' "
The hockey-crazed comedian then lifted up his pant leg to show off a fresh gash that came courtesy of a puck, but that was nothing. "Imagine being in a hockey fight," he said. "That's crazy."
While Myers would opt for a punch-throwing workout, Diaz would go for just the opposite on her fantasy day off. "Sleep!" she cried. "I'm so tired!"
Eddie Murphy's rowdy days, it seems, are behind him as well. "I don't really cut loose and go crazy much," he said. "Not in a while. I got a lot of kids. I'm not taking it easy, but I'm not cutting loose and going crazy."
But the answer of the evening goes to Antonio Banderas, who was walking the carpet with wife Melanie Griffith. "I would like to be a woman," Banderas said. "Because it would be great for one day to be something that attracts me so much. I would just feel it from the inside out."

'Iron Man 2' Features DJ AM Cameo
'We tried to make it respectful, and for people who know him, they'll get a kick out of it,' says director Jon Favreau.

Over the course of his career, DJ AM (born Adam Goldstein) played countless celebrity parties and gatherings, but one of his last was captured on film in what could be one of the year's biggest blockbusters.
According to the Los Angeles Times, two months before his death in August of an accidental drug overdose, AM filmed a cameo in a key scene in "Iron Man 2" that the paper said gives the film a "bittersweet backbeat."
"We tried to make it respectful and for people who know him, they'll get a kick out of it, and for people who don't it will sort of slide by without much notice," said director Jon Favreau, who struggled with the decision to leave the scene in the film's final cut. Favreau invited AM to the film's set last spring and instantly bonded with the celebrity DJ. But after AM's sudden death on August 28 at age 36, the director was unsure if filmgoers would see the inclusion of the footage as a touching farewell or a jolting distraction.
In the film, which opens on May 7, AM is seen manning the turntables at a wild birthday party at boozy Tony Stark's Malibu estate. Wearing his superhero armor, Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is seen dancing around to Tupac's "California Love" as spun by AM. According to the paper, the party soon turns nasty and Stark says, "Adam, I need a fat beat."
"I was just a fan of his, just an admirer of his work, and it was supposed to be a one-day bit," said Favreau, who sometimes spins records himself for friends at home. "But Robert took a real shine to him, as we all did. His energy was amazing. He was such an inspiring guy and there was a lot of depth to him and this positive energy. He ended up staying on with us for about a week and it was just great. We set up this turntable and between takes he would give me pointers."
When editing the movie, Favreau looked to people who were close to AM to figure out how much, if any, of the footage should be used in the film, which mixes intense action with a sometimes-lighthearted tone. According to the Times, everyone consulted agreed that AM should get one more chance to hype up a crowd, his biggest ever, which inspired Favreau to keep the footage in the movie.
As a result, the film is dedicated to AM, with his name and signature lightning-bolt logo scrolled in the end credits. Favreau said after the DJ's extended two-week stay on the set, there was "never any doubt" the movie would be dedicated to AM. "When he passed, it was very difficult for a lot of us," Favreau said of his fast friendship with AM and the difficulty for recovering addict Downey to watch a fellow recovery veteran — AM had been sober for 11 years before his death — falling so hard and fast.
"Our heart goes out to his family and friends," Favreau said, "and we hope what we've done is pleasing to them and to the many, many people who held Adam in high regard."

'It's so cool to be part of it,' Joe says of his duet with Demi Lovato in the documentary.

Joe Jonas thinks there are so many little things people can do to make a "big impact" on Earth Day, and the JoBro has pitched in. His duet with Demi Lovato, "Make a Wave," is featured on the soundtrack for "Oceans," which opens Thursday (April 22), coinciding with the eco-conscious holiday.
The documentary, which takes a closer look at ocean-dwelling creatures, is narrated by Pierce Brosnan. "It's so cool to be part of it," Joe told MTV News.
The singer was asked by Friends for Change: Project Green to record a song. The organization is a multi-platform environmental initiative that encourages kids to make thoughtful decisions about the environment. "It's a really amazing movie, and also, it's really great to watch, because there's a lot of knowledge [about] the people that are a part of the oceans and that help out with trying to save the coral reefs or ... protect the animals that live in the ocean."
Not only does the doc introduce moviegoers to the often mysterious oceanic world, but, Jonas said, it also encourages fans to participate in looking after those waters. "There [are] a lot of things that people can do to help out that they don't really know about," he said. "The movie really ... helps you understand what you can do Whether it's really taking your time and going to the beaches and helping out or whether it's something at home, there's so many different things that if we all do it together, just like anything else, we can make a big impact."
Joe got more good news when he learned "Make a Wave" would also get screen time in "Oceans."
"It's really cool to be a part of the movie," he said. "I didn't expect that at all when the charity asked us. And Demi and I were like, 'Definitely.' Then to hear it was a part of the movie, it was an even greater thing for us. It's so cool."
Are you looking forward to more duets from Joe and Demi? Tell us in the comments!

Robert Downey Jr. May Play Wizard In 'Oz' Prequel
Directors Sam Mendes and Adam Shankman are both in running to helm 'Oz, The Great and Powerful.'
By Adam Rosenberg

"Iron Man 2" star Robert Downey Jr. may soon be traveling to the Land of Oz, led by "American Beauty" director Sam Mendes ... or by "Hairspray" director (and "So You Think You Can Dance" judge) Adam Shankman.
This changing potential lineup comes from the combined reportage of Production Weekly, via Twitter, and the Los Angeles Times. Just hours after Mendes was named on Twitter as a "front-runner" to direct Downey Jr. in a prequel to "The Wizard of Oz" titled "Oz, The Great and Powerful," the Times chimed in with word that Shankman is being considered as well.
Producer Joe Roth is developing the project, which comes from a script by Mitchell Kapner. Kapner based his story (initially pitched to Disney as "Brick") "on parts of a number of ['Oz' author] L. Frank Baum books." Audiences will learn of the circumstances that led the Wizard, originally a charlatan from Kansas, to gift brains and hearts to those in need from behind his curtain in Oz's splendid Emerald City.
The Kapner/Roth take on the Wizard's origins is described as "dark and complex," putting it in league with Gregory Maguire's popular spin-off novel "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West," which has itself been adapted as a stage production. The proposed story's darker angle makes Mendes the more likely choice, as the Times suggests. Moreover, Roth has already seen such success with this year's "Alice in Wonderland," on which he served as a producer.
"Oz, The Great and Powerful" is one of several projects in development that would use as inspiration Baum's original work of fantastical fiction. There's a CGI take on the original book and an adaptation of the Caliber Comics series "Oz" and a loosely interpreted, contemporary version of the original story, starring Sean Astin, Christopher Lloyd and Lance Henriksen. And add to that list the long-in-development Warner Bros. project scripted by Josh Olson, "Oz: The Return to Emerald City."
Would you have cast Robert Downey Jr. as the man behind the curtain? Tell us in the comments.
