Taylor Lautner dropped out of "Northern Lights" earlier this year, citing "casting issues," and now "The Last Song" star Liam Hemsworth, who is next billed to star in "Arabian Nights," is in talks to take over the role from the "Twilight" star.

The film would have made Lautner the highest-paid teen star in Hollywood, with a salary of $7.5 million for the flick. But Deadline Hollywood reports that Hemsworth would take the part for a smaller paycheck. An insider tells the Web site that several actors have passed on the role and that finding someone to take it on has been difficult.

"It's scaring some actors off because David [Ellison] has written himself a big role in the movie, which he's also financing," an insider says about the film's writer/producer. "What, you're going to work for your co-star who doesn't have a big body of work? I've never seen anything like this before."

The movie is about a group of young extreme-flying pilots. It was supposed to start filming on April 1.

Regardless of what happens next with the flick, Hemsworth is currently prepping to start shooting "Arabian Nights" in September. "It is 3-D.

It's about a young commander of an army, who I play, and his king gets killed and he has to go off and he ends up teaming with the character Sinbad," he told MTV News. "And [my character] asks him if he'll come back and defend his kingdom and they come back. There's some really dark bad guys there and it's an epic film."
